About Me

Hi, I’m Raina. I’m a learning experience designer and training professional who enjoys turning complex information into clear, practical, and engaging learning experiences.

My work sits at the intersection of instructional design, workplace training, and technology. I design learning solutions that help people build confidence and apply what they learn in real situations, from compliance training and system walkthroughs to scenario-based eLearning and AI-powered simulations.

I’m especially interested in how emerging tools, thoughtful design, and realistic practice can make learning more meaningful, not just something people complete, but something that actually helps them perform better.

Outside of work, I’m continuing to explore AI-enabled learning, financial education, and interactive training experiences through my portfolio projects.

2018 - USC, Master’s in Education – TESOL

In 2018, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my master’s in Education at USC, focusing on TESOL. As Vice President of the TESOL Club, I organized events that brought international students together. That experience strengthened my passion for education and the impact of helping people grow through language.

2019 - Manhattan College – ESL Curriculum Intern

After graduating from USC, I joined Manhattan College’s summer program as a teacher and learning designer. I created lessons, tracked progress, and led activities like the ESL Café, where students practiced English in real-life situations. That experience showed me how well-designed curriculum can create meaningful, lasting learning.

2020 - Chinese Language Academy - Curriculum Designer & Mandarin Instructor

In 2020, I began designing and delivering customized Mandarin lessons for adult learners and working professionals across different industries. My students ranged from beginners learning basic conversation to advanced learners who needed Mandarin for business communication and cross-cultural understanding.

This experience strengthened my ability to design learner-centered lessons based on each person’s goals, skill level, and real-world needs. It also taught me how to make learning practical, flexible, and relevant, especially for busy professionals balancing language learning with work.

2022 - Royal Business Bank - Training Officer → Training & Development Manager

2021 - California State University, Master's in Educational Technology

By 2021, I realized I wanted to merge my love of learning with the creative challenge of design. That’s when I discovered the field of Educational Technology and jumped in headfirst. I immersed myself in instructional design models like ADDIE, SAM, and Action Mapping, learning not just how to build training, but how to design experiences that actually change behavior. It was the perfect bridge between my teaching background and my growing design ambitions.

In 2022, I transitioned into the corporate learning space, joining Royal Business Bank as a Training Officer and later advancing to Training & Development Manager. In this role, I partner with business leaders to identify performance gaps and deliver impactful training solutions across the organization.

Beyond facilitating training, I design and develop e-learning experiences, instructional materials, and blended learning programs that combine scenario-based learning, multimedia content, and interactive elements. I also integrate AI-powered tools and feedback mechanisms to create engaging, practical learning experiences aligned with real business outcomes.
